Keynote: MakerSpace Revolution
This keynote style presentation explains why we need to have a MakerSpace mindset within our schools to allow for students to explore without the worry of failure. Failure is encouraged with a Maker Mindset as this is a way to apply prior knowledge and work creatively with peers to innovate new products and ideas. Enter The MakerSpace Slide deck.

MAKER MOVEMENT: Why Making & How Can I Start?
The Maker Ed Movement is alive and well here in New Hampshire. Many want to get in the action, but they just do not know why or how making fits into their instruction. Learn about how you can apply standards, student interest, and current pedagogy to provide the foundation for Making in the classroom. After we discuss why Making, we will explore how you can incorporate Making into your instructional goals. STEM challenges and Genius Hour will be highlighted. Participants will leave with lesson ideas, an electronic copy of a sample engineering design process, and reasons for Making in the classroom.

Can’t attend the session, but you would still like resources about Maker Ed? Join the NH Maker Ed G+ community today!

Genius Hour: One Way to Structure Making in Your Classroom
Our students want more than what is offered in our curriculum. They are curious about things that we often do not cover in the curriculum. Genius Hour gives each of your students the opportunity to learn on their own terms, while cultivating a maker community.

Join this session to see how School Librarian Caitlin Ahearn and Science Teacher Jessica Payeur structure Genius Hour.

MakerSpace: Green Screen Video Making
Become a confident green screen video film maker! Learn how collaborative student teams can create amazing videos to strengthen and display their knowledge of a range of topics across all curriculum areas. Bring your iPad or phone with the app, Green Screen by Do Ink, in order to make your own video while brainstorming lesson plan ideas for your classroom. Not only will your students work toward mastery in Speaking & Listening: Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas, but they will also target other CCSS goals depending upon the subject of the movie.

The instructor will share several successful classroom green screen projects and offer tips on keeping the curriculum learning objectives in the forefront while managing a classroom of highly energized students. Additional topics we will address are: finding supporting images and are legal to use, using other apps to enhance videos (like iMovie, Telegami, MyCreate, etc.), and ways to share your students' projects.

What are Google Expeditions?
Expeditions is a virtual reality platform built for the classroom. We worked with teachers and content partners from around the world to create more than 100 engaging journeys - making it easy to immerse students in entirely new experiences.

Expeditions use Google Cardboard.

What is Google Cardboard?
Google Cardboard is a virtual reality (VR) platform developed by Google for use with a fold-out cardboard mount for a mobile phone.

It is intended as a low cost system to encourage interest and development in VR and VR applications used with Android.

Created by David Coz and Damien Henry (engineers at Google Cultural Institute).
